Joy of giving brings hospital spiritual centre to life

Joy of giving brings hospital spiritual centre to life
When the doors to the new spiritual centre and chapel at North Shore Hospital opened in December 2015, the generosity of the community towards this visionary undertaking was revealed.
From the uplifting design and fit out within a building of hospital wards, to the many exquisite and holy items, the beauty and special features of the new chapel were made possible thanks to a philanthropic partnership between individuals, local trusts and foundations and Waitemata District Health Board.

Donors funded the purchase of the beautiful stained glass windows that are over 100 years old and the focal point of the chapel, including their journey from the other side of the world and careful crafting into place.

Donors also funded the stained glass panels at the chapel entrance, acquired and given new life after the building they were in was destroyed by the Christchurch earthquake.

A special board on the wall (pictured above with chapel supporters, Paul and Liz Blackwell) adjacent to the chapel entrance thanks those “whose combined efforts have helped this place of peace become a reality”.
