Maternity Packs for Our Most Vulnerable Families

832 babies were born at North Shore and Waitakere hospitals during Alert Levels 4 and 3 and some of these new mums and babies needed a helping hand to ensure they went home with the essentials they needed.

The wonderful team at Countdown Supermarkets stepped in to help, donating items that our new mums needed the most – nappies, baby wipes, breast pads and maternity pads. Thank you Countdown and all your staff who helped make this happen.

Now that we are heading into the colder winter months and many families are dealing with the economic effects of COVID-19 we want to ensure that the helping hand is still there for our new mums and babies who might need it.

We have been working with the Starship Foundation and their incredible Five Star Partner Barfoot & Thompson on a joint initiative to extend our maternity pack programme to include blankets, onesies and books in addition to the newborn essentials. Over 100 vulnerable families whose babies are born at North Shore and Waitakere Hospitals will benefit from these additional packs making the lives of patients and our wonderful staff just that little bit easier.

Thank you for all your help with the packs they made a huge difference to some very vulnerable new mothers.
