Our two organisations are now working together to improve the health of everyday Kiwis, as well as patient experiences and outcomes across West Auckland, North Shore and Rodney.
Under the partnership, one of the Auckland Regional Dental Service vans, which provides free dental care to pre-school and school age children across Tāmaki Makaurau, has been given a makeover and outside of the times it’s used in schools it becomes the nib ‘check-up clinic’. The nib ‘check-up clinic’ attends various community events and provides a free health-check.
Joining forces to achieve our common goal of making essential healthcare services accessible for more New Zealanders, the co-branded mobile check-up clinic will offer free health screenings and dental checks across Auckland in the wake of alarming research that found almost half of Kiwis (47%) are behind on their general health check.
nib provides health insurance to more than 1.5 million people across New Zealand and Australia and is passionate about supporting community initiatives and health-related programmes.
Rob Hennin, Chief Executive Officer at nib is proud they can support the Well Foundation. He says: “Teaming up with the Well Foundation was an easy decision because our missions are so closely aligned. Both organisations are dedicated to improving health outcomes for all New Zealanders, and this includes those who may face barriers to accessing the health services they need. This partnership means we can bring our mobile Check-Up Clinic to our local communities and provide free health screenings, care and advice to more people”.
Ruth Morse, CEO of Well Foundation says “We’re so thrilled that nib has once again demonstrated its commitment to improving the health of everyday Kiwis by becoming a key sponsor of the Well Foundation. Their support means we’re able to help fund new medical equipment, improve hospital facilities and enable innovations which make a real difference to healthcare experiences and outcomes for patients.”
The first project to receive NIB’s support is New Zealand’s first large-scale, indoor Healing Garden, located within the atrium of Auckland’s new surgical and medical hospital, known as Tōtara Haumaru. The 400sqm indoor living green space is the first time nature has been integrated into a healthcare environment at this scale with the aim of improving wellbeing and health outcomes. This beautiful garden, which is now open to patients and visitors to the new hospital, was only made possible thanks to the generous contributions from the community and businesses like NIB.
