Whenua Pupuke Garden Opening

Well Foundation & Waitematā DHB celebrated the completion of the Whenua Pupuke Garden Project in December 2020 with a blessing ceremony led by Kaumātua Fraser Toi and attended by staff and contributors to the project.

The garden, which now features a courtyard, paved pathways, seating, a Rongoā Māori healing garden and sculpture by West Auckland Artist Julie Moselen, sits next to the Whenua Pupuke Conference centre on the shore of Lake Pupuke.

This beautiful space will provide an area of peaceful reflection for staff, patients and visitors to enjoy whilst taking in the breathtaking views of the water. Thanks to the generous support of a number of local businesses, this project was completed with entirely donated and gifted time and materials.

Special thank you to Dr John Cullen for leading this project on behalf of Waitematā DHB, and to the following contributors to the project, without whom this beautiful space would not have been possible:

Sir David Levene, Brett Turner and Recreational Services, John Childs Consultants, Kerry Dines Limited, Todd Property Group, Hynds Pipe Systems, Heavy Trax Hire, Jasmax, Jeta’s Grove Charitable Trust, Atlas Concrete, Firth Concrete, HDG Construction, Pavecraft, Rapid Construction, ECC Limited, The Smale Family, R&B Transport, and Auckland Civil.
